In 2017, COTN’s clinic in the Dominican Republic more than doubled in size, thanks to you and other generous donors!

Most families in the district of Barahona are unable to afford basic medical care and have limited access to quality medical care facilities. This clinic plays a crucial role in providing holistic care for children in COTN’s program and offers medical care to the community at a lower cost. Services provided include pediatrics, gynecology, surgical procedures, dentistry, and more.

The goal of this project is to supply the Standards of Service in the national language of the countries where Children of the Nations has partnered.  Of the five current COTN countries, Malawi, Sierra Leone and Uganda each have English as one of their national languages.  However, in the Dominican Republic and Haiti where we encourage our staff and children to learn English for the global opportunities that provides, they are not nationally recognized languages for their countries.

Bringing Dreams Back to the Dominican Republic—12 Trips with Ryan Church

“Anytime you are interacting with any level of abject poverty—poverty is really when you are robbed of your ability to dream,” says Ryan Church, former Senior Director of University Ministries at University Presbyterian Church (UPC) in Seattle and current interim Director of Outreach.

Ryan recently went on his 12th trip to the Dominican Republic with COTN. And he noticed a lot of differences between this Venture trip and his first visit.
