Thank You for Giving Joy in Uganda!

The Christmas photos from Uganda are in! And thanks to all of you, the children had a great time celebrating Jesus' birth. Please enjoy these photos and this special message from our Village Partnership Program Coordinator in Uganda, Christopher Odongo:

God is good! The children in Uganda had a colorful Christmas celebration this year, with a wonderful meal, drinks, and great gifts, including school bags and books.

God Can Pick Us Up: Sharon’s Story

Like so many times before, Sharon fought her way through a crowd of people trying to get water for their families. During Uganda’s civil war, water was scarce in the internally displaced persons camp, and six-year-old Sharon wasn’t strong enough to push through the crowd.

The Goal: Providing Meals in a Healthy Environment
About 350 children attend our school in Uganda. Each day, our cooks provide meals for every one of these children. They do so using a traditional Ugandan kitchen. The stoves here use firewood, which is expensive and creates unhealthy smoke in the current setup.

This project is fully funded! Thank you!

Praise God, we have outgrown all of our meeting spaces for assemblies and gatherings at our school. With the increase of children, there just isn’t a place to pull them all together when assemblies are needed, or when Venture Teams come to meet with the children. We are also lacking a place for the school children to eat, and for the older children to take their exams.

A multipurpose building will meet all of these needs for the children.

Hope Restored: Brenda's Story

Sitting on the dirt floor of Brenda's tiny home in Uganda, it's hard to believe her life has been completely transformed. Her tiny home has a thatched roof, mud walls, and is about the size you would think normal for a bedroom—not a home for four children and an adult. Yet there in her tiny home in rural Uganda, Brenda looks at you in her little pink school uniform with eyes full of joy and hope. Everything is different for her, because of her sponsors.

A Ugandan Nativity

In the United States, nativity plays are as traditional as carols and poinsettias in the Christmas season. Even though these dramatizations are most likely not universal, I can't help imagining what a nativity play would look like starring the children of COTN–Uganda, who I have come to know and love over the years.

Furry Blessings That Multiply Fast

Denis is feeling stressed from a long day of studying. As he finishes up his chores, he walks over to where the bunnies are kept at the Children of the Nations Uganda Children's Village and picks one up. "When I am stressed, I just go and sit nearby and watch [the bunnies] as they graze or play around," says Denis. "I am refreshed, because I begin to laugh at the behavior of this little animal."

What Does the Christmas Story Mean to a Child in Uganda?

The story of the birth of Jesus is relevant to our children in countless ways. For an orphaned, abandoned, neglected, or impoverished child in Uganda, the birth of Christ is the message of hope to them who had given up in life. It is deliverance from the past of despondency and destruction masterminded by war. It is freedom from marginalization, poverty, and above all, sin.

Int'l Development - Spiritual Care Fund

Help fund spiritual care projects and bring Jesus' love to children in need

In Matthew 16:18, Jesus said, “I will build my church...” and in Matthew 28:19 He commissioned his followers to “go into all the world...making disciples." We are His church, each of us. And as faithful followers of our Lord, it is our desire to be used to continue to develop the building of his church throughout the world as his Spirit works in us to make disciples.
