"A Good Daughter and a Transformer of Nations": Hawa’s Story

When Hawa came to COTN–Sierra Leone at the age of twelve, she was struggling academically and spiritually.

By the time Hawa turned three, she had no father in her life. Her mother struggled to support four children with the meager money she made from petty trading.

Every time Josie* went home from school, he was there.

When he began touching her, she didn’t know exactly why it felt wrong, only that it was wrong.

Thank You for Building Our Play Therapy Center

You recently helped us build a Play Therapy Center in Sierra Leone. Before now there was no quiet, private place for young children who had experienced trauma (anything from abuse to the death of their parents) to work through what had happened to them.

Girls Can Play Football Too: Mabinty's Story

Sierra Leoneans love football (soccer in the States). The sport gets everyone excited, whether they’re watching or playing. For children at COTN–Sierra Leone, football camp is a great way to build relationships and get exercise. Our children loved when we were able to provide football camp . . . except for one.

Wordless Wednesday: The Word of God

In many places, a personal Bible is a rare and precious gift. Here of some photos of children studying and cherishing the Word of God around the world.

A Passion for Education: Rebecca, Promise, and Sarah's Journey

Last year, three COTN graduates from Malawi—Promise, Sarah, and Rebecca—traveled across Africa to teach at COTN’s school in Banta, Sierra Leone. Just the fact that they are Malawian women with university degrees makes them exceptional. But it’s their courage and their hearts for service that make them truly remarkable.

Patricia's Story: "COTN Has Shown Me How to Love"

“Before COTN, my day was not too happy,” Patricia says. She lived in the Shebuma Faluwo Chiefdom in Sierra Leone with her aunt, who couldn’t always afford food or school fees for all the children in her care. When Patricia could go to school, she spent the rest of her day in the market to make money to pay for school. If it was a good day, she could eat two meals. This was her life until she was seven years old.

Then, because of your giving and God’s grace, COTN changed her life.
