(SL) Primary School Desks

Project Country:
Sierra Leone
Visibility :

The old metal desks in our primary school in Sierra Leone need to be replaced. These desks damage the floors, and if a student’s uniform catches on the metal, their clothing rips.

Early childhood education plays a key role in a student’s future. Providing new, lighter desks will create a safer, distraction-free environment for learning.

(SL) Primary and Nursery School Pathways

School should be a safe place for children to run and play, but this is not the case for many children in Sierra Leone.

Our primary and nursery school (elementary and preschool, respectively) buildings are only connected by dirt paths that get muddy when it rains and destroyed by erosion.

With your help, we want to add paved paths and create an outdoor drainage system to fight erosion.

(SL) Nursery School Nutrition Program

Project Country:
Sierra Leone
Visibility :

Most of the children who attend our nursery school in Sierra Leone come to school hungry. And the food they do receive at home is not helpful for a balanced diet. These children are often malnourished, which can lead to health problems and difficulty learning.

Young children need vitamins and proteins so that they can grow up healthy and strong. Eggs are full of protein and vitamins and are a great supplement to our children’s diets.

(SL) Village Partnership Program Rain Gear

Project Country:
Sierra Leone
Visibility :

From May to September, Sierra Leone is very rainy. Most of the children in our program walk long distances to school every day, and without rain gear, they are left cold and wet. Many children are late to school, some miss school entirely, and others get sick, all because they don’t have any protection from the rain.

Your generous gift will provide raincoats and umbrellas to 600 children in Sierra Leone! You will make sure these children stay healthy and attend classes, even during the rainy season.

(SL) Children's Home Girls' Septic System

Project Country:
Sierra Leone

The girls living at our Children’s Home in Sierra Leone need a new septic system. The current system cannot accommodate the number of girls living there. The system often needs to be pumped, and we have already dug several overflow pits. But these are not permanent solutions.

In order for the girls in our care to have a safe, hygienic living space, we need to build a septic system that will last for years to come.

(SL) Children's Home Freezers

Project Country:
Sierra Leone
Visibility :

Our Children’s Home in Sierra Leone houses and feeds over 80 children. The Home needs freezers for storing food. Right now, the children’s caregivers have no way to store food for long periods of time. Freezers will make it possible to store meat, fish, and previously prepared meals and desserts.

The freezers will allow staff to prepare large amounts of food in advance and freeze portions for later. The freezers will also make sure that purchased food lasts as long as possible, reducing waste. Also, Sierra Leone can get very hot.

How You Are Saving the Lives of Children Like Alice

Fourteen-year-old Alice* lay sick in her home in a remote village, fearing for her life. She was in desperate need of a doctor, but in rural Sierra Leone, health care is hard to find.

Emergency Medical Care for Children in Need

Your generous gift today will help a sick child like Amidu.

Amidu was brought to Children of the Nations’ Sierra Leone clinic with a dangerously high fever, vomiting and weak.

Tests revealed a familiar enemy: malaria.

Malaria causes fever and flu-like symptoms. Without treatment, it can lead to seizures, organ failure, and even death—and children, like Amidu, are particularly at risk.

Malaria is treatable. But it’s hard for a child living in poverty to get the medical care they need.
