My Community: Don Bosco

Children in the Don Bosco Village Partnership Program live in a hilltop community overlooking the beautiful Caribbean coastline. More than 3,000 children call Don Bosco home, and their families lack access to basic resources like medical care, education, and sufficient nutrition.

Families live in dirt-floor homes made with wood or blocks and metal roofs. Electricity is unreliable. Most families make a living through construction or small businesses. But they struggle to afford things like food and medical care. Typical meals consist of rice, beans, and meat. Children help their parents with chores like cleaning their home, carrying water, and washing clothes. Families speak Spanish.

Since 2002, sponsors like you have been partnering with our staff to provide these children with things like daily meals, school fees, medical care, spiritual guidance, and essential hygiene and school supplies. In addition, Don Bosco has an 11-room school facility for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Don Bosco has quickly become our largest Village Partnership in the Dominican Republic, serving hundreds of children. By continuing to equip these children and their caregivers with tools for success, you help them grow up to create positive change in their community and, ultimately, their nation.
