Donors Find Special Way to Celebrate 20th Anniversary of Children of the Nations

Silverdale, WA – July 7, 2015 – In celebration of Children of the Nations’ (COTN) twentieth anniversary, a group of generous donors has pledged to match up to $400,000 of donations given to the organization by August 31, 2015. The funds from this “$400K Challenge” will be used to meet the needs of impoverished children in Africa and the Caribbean, by providing food, education, medical care, and more.

COTN provides care for some of the poorest children in Sierra Leone, Uganda, Malawi, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti. These children were born into a vicious cycle of poverty that leaves them without education, proper nutrition, and medical care. Donations to the 400K Challenge will help give these children the well-rounded care they need for a bright future.
“Our desire is to increase each child’s opportunities for success,” says Chris Clark, COTN’s Founder. “Our hope is that each child will take what they have learned and become an agent of transformation in their nation.” Already, COTN has watched many children graduate from high school and college, and go on to be teachers, doctors, and other types of leaders in their communities.
Through a long history in these countries, COTN has joined the children and their families in the fights against Ebola, malaria, food shortages, and lack of access to education. COTN’s ministry has also helped rebuild communities after the devastation of guerrilla warfare and natural disasters like drought and earthquakes.
COTN believes that whether a person donates money or spends time working with children in-country, they are making it possible for a child to have a better future. “A worldwide family has formed around our children,” says Clark. “You are our family and your contribution to this movement of people is significant in the lives of many, many children.”
COTN continues to earn the highest rating, four stars, from Charity Navigator, for lean administration costs and financial accountability and transparency.
