Children of the Nations Wins "Best Local Charity in Western Washington"

Seattle, WA – October 31, 2008 – Children of the Nations (COTN), a local organization impacting the lives of thousands of children in the developing world, was recently voted “The Best Local Charity” for the 16th annual Best of Western Washington Guide! This contest, sponsored by King 5’s Evening Magazine, provided the opportunity for residents of Western Washington to vote for their favorite businesses and service organizations online.
This is the first year that Children of the Nations has been nominated for “Best Local Charity,” and they are honored to win first place! Voters were also able to write online reviews about Children of the Nations to share with others visiting the voting site. The organization was blessed to read many reviews such as this one:
“We love COTN. The heart and the desire they have to reach those less fortunate is truly remarkable to see. My son has been on a few short-term trips with COTN and has been blessed by each trip. COTN is loving and compassionate. They are feeding, clothing, loving and educating children who are in such a dire need for hope and love. COTN is a blessing to these children. Thanks COTN!”

    About Children of the Nations

Children of the Nations (COTN) is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising children who transform nations. Founded in 1995, the organization currently provides holistic care to orphaned and destitute children in Sierra Leone, Malawi, Uganda, and the Dominican Republic. By partnering with nationals, they establish full-care residential Children’s Homes (for orphans) and Village Partnership Programs (to benefit children living with destitute families or caregivers who are unable to properly provide for them). The programs and services they provide include education, feeding centers, medical services, and community development initiatives such as agriculture, sanitation projects, micro-enterprise, and much more. Children of the Nations believes that true, lasting, and meaningful change begins with the children, and so they are their mission. Children of the Nations stands apart from other organizations in their goal, not to provide relief, but rather to come alongside nationals, empowering them to a life of self-sustainability.
