Lira Children's Home

Lira, Uganda

Children of the Nations opened the doors to its Lira Children's Home in fall of 2007. Located in a residential area, this rented home houses 55 orphans under full-time residential care. After working with social services and following countless counseling sessions, these children, many orphaned traumatized during the long-running rebel war, were considered the worst-of-the-worst cases. For most, immediate intervention was a must.

During the past year, our Lira Children's Home has proven to be a safe haven for these precious children, providing them with holistic care. Today they are healthy, attending school, continue to receive trauma counseling and medical care as needed, but most importantly are feeling loved.

Construction is currently underway on our permanent Uganda Children's Village, where these children will soon be relocated.
