7 Ways You Can Celebrate Book Lovers Day and Help Children Too

Happy Book Lovers Day! National Book Lovers Day is celebrated on both August 9th and the first Saturday of November. But at COTN, we love books all year around and want to raise up a new generation of book lovers in our children. Here are some ways you can celebrate your love of books and help us foster a passion for reading in others:

1. Libraries are special places for book lovers. COTN’s International Christian Academy in Malawi is building a new library that will also serve as an administration building. You can help create a high-quality learning environment for children in Malawi.

2. Check out our Amazon wishlist for specific books to send to Africa and the Caribbean. We have a wishlist for each of our five countries: Dominican Republic, Haiti, Malawi, Sierra Leone, and Uganda.

3. Give books to a child in need this Christmas through our gift catalog.

4. Malawi isn’t the only place that needs a new library! We’re also building a library in Algodon in the Dominican Republic. Help us create a space to store books and encourage children to read.

5. Sponsored children love to hear from their sponsors. Write to your child today, and tell them about a story you really love. Help your sponsored child fall in love with reading by writing them letters that they’re sure to treasure.

Your letters encourage children and promote reading

6. Do you sponsor a child? Find a book about his or her country and read it! Educate yourself about that country and stay invested in your sponsored child’s life.

7. Give a child the greatest book of all: the Bible.

Happy reading!
