Bring Your Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Dave Roberts just found an unusual connection between cleaning out his garage and helping children in Africa. By donating his car to a nonprofit called Donation Line, he was able to raise money for Children of the Nations (COTN).

“It was easy,” says Roberts, “and it’s a good way to support an organization.”  Roberts provided his vehicle and contact information to Donation Line and they did the rest.  Donation Line quickly picked up the car, sold it, sent the money to COTN, and then mailed Roberts a gift-in-kind receipt.

Funds from your donated vehicles help to meet the greatest needs of the children
The money we receive from your donated vehicles helps to meet the children's greatest needs.

“The funds from one vehicle can make a huge difference in our countries,” says Dave Schertzer, COTN’s Resource Director. All vehicle donation money goes directly into COTN’s general fund, which helps to meet the greatest needs of the children. The sale of one car, truck, or boat can provide food, shelter, medical attention, and education for hundreds of children. “If we had one vehicle donated a month, imagine the number of children we could provide for,” says Schertzer.

“There’s plenty of people who want to make a difference,” Schertzer adds.  But not everyone is close to a COTN office or able to participate in a meal packaging event, pack a shipping container, or attend a fundraising event. That’s why the vehicle donation program is such a great way to help children in need no matter where you live or what type of volunteer opportunities you’re interested in.

Donation Line collects vehicles from all over the United States, including non-running, junk, and salvage cars, as well as boats, trucks, RVs, motorcycles, jet skis, snowmobiles, airplanes, and real estate. “This is a great way to get involved,” says Schertzer.
