A Child's Story: Joshua Agen of Uganda Uganda

Eight-year-old Joshua Agen dreams of becoming doctor. He looks forward to making the short walk from his village of Anai-Okii to his new school at the Children of the Nations (COTN) Uganda Children’s Village every day.

“I enjoy [my] studies, most especially writing,” says Joshua,“and I like playing football with my friends.”

Simulcast Carries Message from Uganda to California Uganda

Over 9,000 miles and a ten-hour time difference separated a church in Uganda and a church in California, but the gap was bridged on Sunday, June 13 via simulcast that moved people on both sides of the world.

Real Life Church (RLC) members from Valencia, California coordinated the simulcast that was broadcast during Sunday church services at RLC. The Sunday telecast was the first of its kind in Lira, Uganda, and was staged in the center of town.

A New Life Begins for 74 Ugandan Children Uganda

Stability is something new to these children. School, daily meals, a bed for sleeping and clean clothes seemed out of reach to most. Some have lost family members to the long-standing rebel wars, some to sickness and some to other reasons. All have had no positive family support in a long time, and many were scared.

Rose likes to sing and dance. Her sweet, genuine smile gives away the fact that she has many friends. In fact, that’s one of the things she loves most about school: her friends. "And my teachers are good,” she adds. Reading and writing are two subjects in which Rose excels. Next year, she’ll be promoted to Primary Class 2. “I want to be a teacher,” the eight-year-old says proudly.

Children's Village Student Wins Leadership Role in Uganda Uganda

She’s only 11 years old, but that’s not stopping Monica Atim from being a leader at her school. Monica is one of the children who lives at Children of the Nations (COTN) new Children’s Village in Uganda. She has been in COTN’s program for three years and is now in Year 4 at Lira Police Primary School, which is near COTN’s property. Each day, she attends with her many COTN brothers and sisters who also live in COTN’s Children’s Village.

Anai-Okii Village Partnership (Uganda): One Month Later Uganda

On March 16, COTN–Uganda threw a party at the Children’s Village to welcome seventy-seven children to Children of the Nations. Twenty-eight children were added to our full-time program, and our first Uganda Village Partnership Program (VPP) opened, serving forty-nine children in the village of Anai-Okii. The month since has been filled with both challenges and blessings.

Phase II construction of our Uganda Children’s Village has begun!

Children of the Nations (COTN) staff laid the foundations of the school building on March 26, and progress has been steady since then.

“The pictures . . . show that we will be roofing in three days,” said Pastor James Okalo, COTN–Uganda Country Director, on April 14. “I am looking forward to selecting some prospective teachers to kick-start the new term for our lower primaries and kindergarten.”

Though each of our countries has used the JESUS film as a powerful and effective ministry tool, none has done so more than Uganda. COTN–Uganda regularly shows the film in rural areas, where residents may never have seen a movie before. Along with the film, the staff often performs drama, singing, and other evangelistic activities.
