Photos from Summer Camp in Uganda

12/30/15

In Uganda, the school year goes from February to November, with "summer break" coming in December and January. Last month, in COTN's Anai-Okii Village Partnership Program in Uganda, every sponsored child had the opportunity to attend a special "summer" camp thanks to generous gifts from sponsors. And they had a great time!

The theme for this year was “I Am Growing to Become More like Jesus,” following Romans 8:29 (“God knew from the beginning who would put their trust in Him. So He chose them and made them to be like His Son. Christ was first and all those who belong to God are His brothers.”)

Activities for the camp included games, sports, entertainment, music, food, and a focus on God’s word. Discussion topics focused on health/hygiene, youth entrepreneurship, youth issues, sexual purity, and more. In this camp, 39 children, with the majority from the Village Partnership Program, gave their lives to Christ.

“This changed my life a lot, making me dream more and bigger than I did [before],” said Mary, one of the children who came to the camp.

“It was such a blessing to interact with our friends during camp," said Sarah, another child who attended the camp. "My life won’t remain the same through the wonderful work you are doing to help us grow mentally, physically, and spiritually."

Thank you for giving the children a wonderful camp experience! Because of you, they had the opportunity to experience family and God's love.
