Breaking Ground on a Children’s Village in Uganda

As Children of the Nations continues ministering to orphaned and destitute children in Uganda, we are excited to announce that we have begun the process of establishing a permanent Children’s Village there!

Currently, COTN operates out of a rented home in Lira, Uganda, where our 29 orphans live in full-time care. Our goal is to establish Phase One of the Children’s Village, which will include seven children’s homes and a classroom block, by the end of 2009. The complete Children’s Village will eventually consist of twenty-eight residential children’s homes, a school, a library, a main hall (to be used for a feeding center and community facility), an administrative office, and a guest house for visiting teams and interns.

Some of this work has already been accomplished—land has been purchased and cleared, and the architectural plans have been completed. Now, COTN is moving forward with fundraising that will support construction of the seven children’s homes and first classroom block. When the main hall and administrative office are completed, COTN will be better equipped to reach out to the destitute children who live in the surrounding communities through Village Partnership Programs.
