Last week, Children of the Nations held a summer camp in the Dominican Republic for students ages four to seven. The summer camp was hosted at Casa Betesda with the assistance of the Ferrin and Tejeda families. Below are some of the camp highlights.

It all started in 2009. Mike Guerrero was reading a magazine article that piqued his interest. It was on the “Kingdom Assignment” concept created by Denny and Leesa Bellesi. The original Kingdom Assignment resulted the Bellesis giving $100 to people in their congregation with one clear objective: make the money go farther. The assignment encourages people to be a living example like that seen in Matthew 25:14-30.

My first day in the Dominican Republic was overwhelming. The poverty was staggering. The discrepancy between what they have and what I have was sobering. The sheer number of kids and families who need support was paralyzing. The quantity of visible needs was disheartening.

We were so excited to be able to send our older students away for a weekend of discipleship, mentoring, bonding, and games. Younger children participated in a day camp at our ministry site.
