Today, you have the opportunity to hear from Steven Mizecki as he shares his missionary experiences. Steven is a Children of the Nations–Malawi graduate who is now serving as a missionary in Haiti.
We had the chance to interview him when he visited Children of the Nations headquarters this summer and he was excited to tell you how God is building His Kingdom through your faithful gifts and prayers.
Q: What has been the hardest thing about being a missionary in Haiti?
A: The culture, the weather, and getting accustomed to the food.
Q: And what is the best thing about it?
A: Working with the kids. You always have fun.
Q: How can COTN partners pray for Haiti?
A: The spiritual growth of the kids, and the political atmosphere in Haiti. Sometimes people don’t feel safe, and we have missed a lot of [Venture] teams.
Q: What is your favorite thing about Haiti?
A: (Laughing) The kids, and what COTN is doing in Haiti.
Q: What is “I Love Soccer”?
A: I Love Soccer is a way of doing evangelism. We teach the kids soccer skills, we have Bible studies, and we pray together. We discuss what’s going on in their lives and how we can help them resolve those issues.
Q: What impact has I Love Soccer made in the community?
A: We encourage the kids to go to school and to church. There are some of them who have never gone to church, and we emphasize that. Then they come to soccer and say, “Yeah! I went to church, and this is what I learned!” That’s really motivating.
Q: What is one thing you want COTN partners to know?
A: I would tell them that they are really changing lives. Some people think that the little that they give doesn’t make a difference, but it does. It really does. It makes a huge, huge impact in the lives of kids around the world.
Q: What are you most excited for when you return to Haiti?
A: I miss the kids. I miss my boys. It’ll be so much fun leading them again.
Q: How can COTN partners pray for you?
A: Pray that I still have my passion, that I don’t lose direction where God is leading me. I just need to focus on what God wants me to do in Haiti.
