Summary: 
To support the mission and vision of Children of the Nations International (COTNI) in the Physical Care Department by participating in research, development, training and communication with COTN’s implementing countries. The role focuses on partnering with COTN-Dominican Republic and COTN-Haiti implementing staff by assisting with strategy and methodology to meet established International Physical Care Standards of Service. This role will equally focus on facilitating and coordinating surgical services as outlined in Surgical Care COTNI Standards of Service.
Responsibilities: 
  • Partner with the Physical Care Program leader to strategically work as a department and support implementing staff and clinics in meeting Physical Care Standards of Service.
  • Serve as Physical Care Department leader as it relates to the DR Clinic and the DR Clinic Business Plan
  • Advocate for the needs of the DR Clinic and assist where needed with the DR Clinic Business Plan
  • Partner with the Physical Care Program leader to research and implement evidence-based practices as the methodology and framework of meeting standards of service
  • Deliver and participate in providing physical health training as needed to in-country staff, COTNI, and volunteers.
  • Communicate with in-country staff on a minimum of a monthly basis to review monthly reports, department status, well-being of children, and program needs.
  • Communicate with supervisor, liaisons, international branch staff, and Operations Branch staff as needed, keeping open lines of communication
  • Participate with international department team meetings and events as available
  • Identify and develop relationships with partnering organizations to assist in meeting strategic goals of the physical care programs in each country
  • Assist with strategic planning/goal setting and budgeting processes in each country, as outlined, to ensure alignment to reach identified physical care end result.
  • Assist with creating and maintaining physical care related project proposals
  • Assist with ongoing edits and development of physical care standards of service, criteria for evaluation, formal assessments, training opportunities, and best practice development.
  • Travel as needed to implementing countries to support departmental objectives
  • Collaborate with venture department, international department, and implementing country staff to assist where needed with implementation and facilitation of Surgical Care COTNI Standards of Service.
  • Coordinate recruitment efforts for Surgical and Medical venture teams, including but not limited to collaboration with COTN’s marketing and advancement departments, and outside organizations and events. This should be done in accordance with the clinic business plan.
  • Remains familiar with training process for new surgical team leaders
  • Work with Physical Care Program leader to debrief both Physical Care Venture teams and the implementing countries that host them
  • Work with Physical Care Program leader to train Physical Care venture teams on their specific project(s).
  • Apply evidence-based, global standards to Physical Care venture team process
  • Coordinate with Physical Care Program leader, implementing country staff and COTNI Venture department to support project objectives for Physical Care Venture teams.
  • Work with implementing staff to support as needed the completion of preparatory tasks and maintenance for the Physical Care venture team process. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Any required government permissions
  • Patient recruitment
  • Equipment condition and function
  • Patient safety monitoring
  • Inventory of clinic
Skills and Qualifications: 
  • Health related degree including but not limited to:
  • Public Health degree
  • Community Health degree
  • Registered Nurse (BSN preferred)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Medical Practitioner
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Spanish Speaking
  • Administrative Skills
  • Experience working with finances and budgets
  • Cross Cultural experience
  • The work location is Silverdale, WA with some remote work.
