Program Description:
The village of Chirombo is located about one hour’s drive from downtown Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi. This severely impoverished community consists of approximately 8,000 people. It is located in a very remote, extremely underdeveloped part of Malawi, with no electricity and very little access to clean water. Due to the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS, fifty-three percent of the population of Malawi is under age 18. The majority of women in Chirombo are widowed or divorced and leading single-parent households. In this village there are Christian churches co-existing with native beliefs and practices of the Chewa tribe. Hundreds of children are enrolled in the Chirombo Village Partnership Program, which helps provide education, evangelism and discipleship, HIV/AIDS awareness and testing, medical care, and provision distribution to the neediest families in this community. Partners like you are also helping construct a secondary boarding school at our ministry center nearby so older students can continue learning. By partnering with sponsors like you, we seek to provide the children of Chirombo with the resources and care they need to become well-rounded individuals. By equipping these children and their caregivers with tools for success, they will grow up to create positive change in their community and ultimately their nation.
