Program Description:
Don Bosco, a hilltop community situated above the city of Barahona, overlooks the beautiful Caribbean coastline. This impoverished Dominican community is home to more than 3,000 children. When Children of the Nations began its partnership with the people of Don Bosco in 2002, most of the children did not have access to basic resources like medical care, education, and sufficient nutrition. In 2003, a COTN Venture Team traveled to Don Bosco to begin construction of three primary school classrooms and one small office. Today, thanks to dedicated partners and sponsors, this has developed into an 11-room school facility where local children in kindergarten through eighth grade receive a top-rate education, daily meals, and Christian discipleship. Don Bosco has quickly become our largest Village Partnership Program in the Dominican Republic. More than 260 children are enrolled in the program, receiving physical, mental, social, and spiritual care thanks to our partners and in-country staff. By partnering with sponsors like you, we seek to provide the children of Don Bosco with the resources and care they need to become well-rounded individuals. By equipping these children and their caregivers with tools for success, they will grow up to create positive change in their community and ultimately their nation.
