Feeding Children

The sunflower is an extremely useful crop. At Chichere Farm in Malawi, where plenty of sunflowers grow, their oil can be extracted for use in cooking meals for our children, and the cake left behind after extraction can feed our livestock.

Tropical Storm Isaac blew into the Dominican Republic and Haiti on August 24 and 25, 2012, causing flooding and damaging homes and crops in the communities we serve.  The communities of Altagracia, Algodon, and Los Robles in the Dominican Republic were hit the hardest, and require special attention in order to recover. Several families in these communities have homes that are in immediate need of repair, and others lost their source of income when the crops were destroyed. 

There are currently nearly 2,000 children in the communities we serve in Africa and the Caribbean who do not yet have sponsors.
