My Sponsored Child Gave Me a Name

I sit here on the porch, smiling and praising God as I watch the African sun go down over the rolling hills in the west. The clouds shift, constantly changing from striking golds to deep purples.

A Surprise from My Sponsored Child

I had probably looked at those brown eyes more than a hundred times as I opened and closed my refrigerator door where his photo was clipped. Every single time, I thought about meeting Mphatso, the little boy I began sponsoring earlier this year.

A Sponsor's Journey, Part 4: Over the River and Through the Jungle

My journey to my sponsored child Alfred's home in Mokpangumba, Sierra Leone, was an adventure I will never forget. Not many people I know can say they have trekked through the jungle of Africa. It was raining on my way there so I would definitely describe the one-hour walk as wet. Not to mention the fact that we crossed two rivers by foot and one larger river by canoe. And by “canoe” I mean a giant carved-out log.

Photos from Our First Graduation at the International Christian Academy!

On Saturday, June 29, the first-ever class of graduates from the International Christian Academy officially received their diplomas! None of these students would have had access to attend secondary school, let alone graduate, if it wasn't for your support—whether you sponsor their education and care, helped build the school they attend, or pray for the children and our ministry in Malawi.

The photos just came in. Here's a look at that very special day!

A Sponsored Child from God

The following was written by Susan Price, a Venture participant who traveled to the Dominican Republic for the first time with Children of the Nations in May.

The Day I Met My Sponsored Child

I was as happy as could be, sitting under a makeshift tent in Haiti, listening to dozens of children singing their favorite Bible songs.  But I couldn’t quite sit still.  In just a few minutes I would meet my sponsored child, Staina, for the first time.

Your Favorite Letters

We asked sponsors the sweetest thing their child has ever written them in a letter. Here are some of the words and phrases that have touched your hearts (or made you giggle):

"I just opened my very first letter today... 'I always love your sweet words and encouragement that you give to me.'" -Nancy, COTN Sponsor

A Day in the Life of a Malawian Sponsored Child

Esnart's days were not easy before she became part of Children of the Nations' (COTN) child sponsorship program in the village of Mtsiliza, Malawi. She never had enough to eat, and struggled to attend school. Even though primary school is free in Malawi, a host of factors make it difficult for children to attend.  Many families cannot afford simple school supplies and uniforms, while others need their children to stay home and work.

Can I Pray for You Before You Go Back to America?

On my first trip to Uganda, I got to meet the girl our family sponsors through Children of the Nations (COTN). Her name is Sharon.
