Sahr Yambasu

COTN–Sierra Leone Country Director

Sahr Mormakoe Yambasu joined the ministry of Children of the Nations (COTN) in June of 2013. He comes to COTN with a passion to see community people participating in their own development process by helping to raise up a generation of Christ-centered leaders.

Sahr was born and bred in the rural village of Komboma, Gbane chiefdom, Kono district, in eastern Sierra Leone. He accepted Jesus Christ as his lord and personal savior in 1990, when he was about to enter teacher training college. He was discipled within the ministry of Sierra Leone Fellowship of Evangelical Students.
Sahr holds a master’s degree in gender studies, and has worked in Christian ministries and non-governmental organizations since 2000. He has held various management positions with Scripture Union Sierra Leone, World Vision Sierra Leone, ACDI/VOCA (Agricultural Cooperative Development International / Volunteers in Overseas Cooperative Assistance), and Christian Aid Sierra Leone.
Like COTN’s other country directors, Sahr manages and coordinates all the departments of COTN–Sierra Leone in a way that contributes to the overarching vision of COTN to ‘raise children who transform nations.’
Sahr leads a team of dedicated staff and interacts with local and national authorities in Sierra Leone. This includes ensuring effective management and appropriate support for partners. He also provides strong representation for COTN-Sierra Leone at the national level.
Sahr is married to Rebecca Sia Yambasu and has two children, Sahr Moses and Sia Nanah. He is an elder in the Church of Pentecost Sierra Leone, with a gift of teaching. He loves reading and listening to good, soft music.
